Good morning, San Marcos.

Traditional public schools in the county lost 6,459 students this school year (a 1.6 percent drop), marking the largest decline since 2020.

For 11 years in a row, enrollment has fallen as high living costs and low birth rates force districts to close schools due to funding tied to student numbers.
