GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • San Marcos will build a new fire station at the former Outpost beer garden site on North Las Posas Road and Armorlite Drive — the station will fill a coverage gap as call volumes have nearly doubled since 2008. The city bought the site for $4.1 million and set aside $8.1 million while total costs are expected to be between $20 and $25 million, with construction starting in three to four years.  The Coast News Group

HEALTH NEWS

  • Two North County nonprofits received state funds from Prop 1 to expand behavioral health services. Casa de Amparo in San Marcos got $19 million for a 16-bed psychiatric treatment facility expected to open in spring while Epidaurus Amity in Vista received $31 million to expand its adult substance use recovery center, and an Interfaith proposal for a 150-bed facility was not funded.  The Coast News Group
