Good morning, San Marcos. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 5th of June.
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jack Pellegrino, the county’s longtime purchasing chief fired last September, sued the county alleging he was terminated because of his age and race — he said county officials planned to replace him with a person of color even though his successor, deputy Allen Hunsberger, is white. His attorney said the firing had nothing to do with his performance — county records show he had positive reviews during his 11-year service. Voice of San Diego
- ➤ The San Diego County Water Authority lowered its planned water rate hike from 18% to 10.4% for next year, but councilmembers (Sean Elo-Rivera and Marni von Wilpert) said the proposal is still too high. The authority said rising labor costs and a settlement with a regional partner played a role as the city considers further cost-cutting measures. Voice of San Diego
