San Marcos voters approved Measure Q last November—a one-percent sales tax that is set to raise about $26.7M yearly by next summer and boost General Fund revenues by 5 percent.
City staff will use the funds for operating services, capital improvements, and infrastructure repairs to help prevent future budget cuts after a $3.8M gap last year.
