Good morning, San Marcos.
🎓 Education
Federal funds for school programs have been released after a one-month freeze, easing cash flow concerns for North County districts such as Vista Unified and San Dieguito Union High.
The funds—supporting teacher training, language learning and after-school programs—now secure essential services for students.
🏛️ Government
Former county counsel Claudia Silva retired last week after a sudden performance review and signed a deal providing at least a $535,000 payout when her paid leave ends on August 22.
The agreement also offers 18 months of health benefits and extra payouts for unused vacation and sick time—county officials declined further comment on the arrangement.
