The Vista High School Panther Players Present: The Runner Stumbles By Milan Stitt
The Runner Stumbles is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com
The Runner Stumbles originally opened on Broadway at the Little Theater on May 18, 1976. Directed by Austin Pendleton and Produced by Wayne Adams and Willard Morgan.
Faith, passion, and love collide in The Runner Stumbles, a gripping courtroom drama and mystery inspired by true events. Set in a remote, turn-of-the-century parish, the story unfolds as a young, vivacious nun dies under deeply mysterious circumstances. When her superior, Father Rivard, is charged with her murder, a high-stakes trial exposes a tangled web of local gossip, intense spiritual doubt, and a hidden emotional bond that tested the limits of their sacred vows. Alternating between a tense courtroom battle and moving flashbacks, this powerful play masterfully unravels a profound question of guilt, sacrifice, and the human heart.
